3 Children’s Events This August: Stories, Creativity & Family Fun
Looking for meaningful activities to enjoy with your children this August? We have three exciting events lined up, bringing together Chinese storytelling, picture books, hands-on activities and creative art.
Whether your child loves listening to stories, sharing ideas or creating something with their own hands, there’s something to look forward to this month.
16 August | Chinese Storytelling: Ah Gong 《阿公》
Start the month with a heartwarming story about family, companionship and the bonds between generations.
Inspired by the picture book Ah Gong 《阿公》, this parent-child storytelling session invites families to explore the story together through guided reading, interactive sharing and creative activities.
Children will be encouraged to express their thoughts, listen to different perspectives and deepen their understanding of the story. A hands-on craft activity will also give them another way to respond creatively to what they have read.

23 August | Children’s Book Club: The Big-Mouthed Bird Express Company 《大嘴鸟快递公司》
Next up is a free Children’s Book Club session featuring the delightful Chinese picture book 《大嘴鸟快递公司》.
Follow the big-mouthed birds as they set off to deliver parcels! Through the story, children will explore ideas such as responsibility, teamwork, sharing and the joy of helping others.
Led by educator & art instructor Chen Minjie (陈敏洁老师), the session combines storytelling with interaction and art, giving children an opportunity to enjoy Chinese in a relaxed and engaging setting.

29 August | Parent-Child Chinese Storytelling & Art Activity Workshop
Round off the month with a workshop where Chinese storytelling meets art and imagination.
Presented by Artful Tale Makers, this parent-child workshop is inspired by the picture book 《不一样的1》.
Can a simple “1” become something completely unexpected?
Through interactive storytelling and hands-on art-making, children will transform simple objects and ideas into imaginative creations. Along the way, they’ll discover something important: we can all look at the same thing and imagine it differently.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to create together while encouraging curiosity, observation and creative thinking.
