EPILOGUE

This book is adapted and updated from the 2023 Chinese edition of the same title. Many developments in the last two years have been included as well.

The original edition was edited by Mr Seng Han Thong and put together by an editorial team comprising Mr Wang Huidi, Mr Lee Kok Leong, Mr Goh Soo Heng, Mr Tay Bon Hoi, Ms Poon Sing Wah, Ms Chia Yei Yei, Mr Yeo Swee Hong, Mr Ho Yuen and Mr Lee Tee Song.

The inspiration for this work came from a thought-provoking question Mr Lee Kuan Yew posed during a visit to Australia in 1988: "Wiil Singapore still exist in 100 years?"

The chapters explore his policies, principles and achievements in 15 areas, all of which shaped the foundations of modern Singapore. As you read and reflect on them, you may arrive at your own answer to his question.

We are grateful to the National Archives of Singapore, SPH Media, The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, and members of the Photographic Society of Singapore, Photo-Art Association of Singapore, Singapore Colour Photographic Society and the Singapore Photographic & Digital Imaging Trade Association for generously contributing the images featured in this book.

My heartfelt thanks also go to Mr Oei Hong Leong for sponsoring this endeavour, Mr Seng Han Thong for his precious advice, and Mr Lim Huan Chiang for spearheading the project.

We were all motivated by the opportunity to document and celebrate Mr Lee Kuan Yew's extraordinary foresight and wisdom—qualities that were instrumental in building the Singapore we know today. Our shared hope is for this book to inspire many generations to come.

As we mark 60 years of Singapore's independence, may we remember the legacy of Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his team, and strive to ensure our Little Red Dot shines brightly on its centennial, and beyond.
